Carley Lambeth named Richmond Observer’s Teen of the Month

ROCKINGHAM — Recent graduate Carley Lambeth has been selected as the Richmond Observer’s latest Teen of the Month.

Lambeth, who graduated near the top of her class from Richmond Senior High School, is now a student at the University of North Carolina at Wilmington.

She has already earned an associate degree from Richmond Community College and plans to attend a doctoral program and become a physical therapist.

“Carley has always been a hard worker whether in school, on her grandparents’ farm, softball field, volleyball court, soccer field, church, or other volunteer activities,” her aunt, Meghann Lambeth, said when nominating her.

The referenced farm is Triple L Farms in Derby.

“She has always been an independent thinker and has chosen to do the right thing even when the immediate consequence might be costly to her,” her aunt continued. “She was never afraid to stand up for those who did not have the courage to stand for themselves.”

Lambeth initiated a project of sending cards to American soldiers overseas which resulted in a personal letter of thanks from a decorated officer of the Army, according to her aunt. She has also volunteered with the Richmond County Special Olympics and the Hospice Grief Camp for children.

In April, shortly after the COVID-19 pandemic began, Lambeth submitted a letter to the editor about the effects of the shutdown on a high school senior.

“This writing gives insight into the character of this young lady as she speaks for herself and for all other high school seniors wherever they might be,” her aunt said.

Lambeth was also named the RO Sports Female Student Athlete of the Week in October 2019.

She is the daughter of Jamie and Jennifer Lambeth of Rockingham.
