HAMLET — The General Henry William Harrington Chapter of the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution proudly participated in the annual Seaboard Festival, engaging more than 9,000 visitors with a booth that exemplified the DAR’s mission and the goals of the America 250 initiative.
Our booth, adorned with the America 250 and chapter flags, stood as a beacon of patriotism and education. We distributed DAR materials, including scholarship information, U.S. Constitution booklets, and chapter details, actively welcoming prospective members and providing guidance on membership applications. Special emphasis was placed on honoring our nation’s founding principles and the remarkable legacies of our patriots.
One of the highlights of the booth was the distribution of 200 gift bags to school-aged children. These bags, filled with patriotic items such as handheld American flags, DAR flag code pamphlets, CAR brochures, preamble bookmarks, crayons, and candies, aimed to foster a sense of belonging and educate the younger generation. The included coloring book, spotlighting founding fathers and unsung heroes like Molly Pitcher, was particularly well-received.
The Patriot Tree and accompanying flip book served as focal points, bringing to life the stories of our chapter patriots and underscoring their modern relevance. This engaging display captured the attention of many visitors and highlighted the diverse experiences and contributions of American patriots.
“We are thrilled with the success of our participation in the Seaboard Festival,” said Melissa Gibson Wall, regent. “Our efforts truly showcased the DAR’s commitment to historic preservation, education, and patriotism, and we are grateful for the unwavering support of the America 250 Committee.”
