“We are a little disappointed she cannot make our original date but we are ecstatic she is so busy. We hope the success of all of her projects will generate even more interest in the fall when she is able to come,” said Abdul Ghaffar, director of Campus Engagement and Leadership.

The Distinguished Speaker Series returned to BraveNation in 2018 after the series ran from 2000-13 and brought many notable speakers to campus including Maya Angelou, Spike Lee, Dick Vitale and Gabby Douglas.

The 2018-19 Series has featured Martin Sensmeier, Wes Studi and Michael Eric Dyson, producing tremendous interest and attendance from the UNC Pembroke campus community. Guerrero will be the final speaker on campus for the season.

The series is presented by the Office of Campus Engagement and Leadership at Givens Performing Arts Center. Tickets are $10 general admission, $5 for faculty/staff/children and free for UNCP students with a valid ID.
