Family nurse practitioner joins FirstHealth Cardiology

ROCKINGHAM — Tammy Brigman, FNP, has joined FirstHealth Cardiology, Rockingham as an advanced practice nurse practitioner.

Prior to her current role, she worked as the clinical director of the emergency department at Moore Regional Hospital–Richmond.

Brigman earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Winston-Salem State University and went on to receive a Master of Science in Nursing, Family Nurse Practitioner degree from the University of North Carolina Wilmington in 2019.

“Many of my family members were registered nurses, but it wasn’t until after high school when I volunteered with Hamlet Fire and Rescue that I became interested in pursuing health care myself,” she said.

Brigman began her career as an emergency department staff nurse at MRH in Pinehurst in 1994, and has since helped achieve operational, financial and quality goals within the department. She said she had always considered advanced practice and decided to make it a reality after seeing the difference one provider could make with her aging parents.

A native of Richmond County, she brings a diverse skill set to the cardiology team and focuses on providing community-focused care that incorporates evidence-based initiatives, as well as holistic approaches.
