Halloween happenings around Richmond County

With Halloween around the corner, many around Richmond County are getting into the spooky spirit, with several holiday-related activities for kids to collect candy.

Richmond County Hospice kicks things off its Candy Cavalcade from 4:30-8 p.m. on Thursday.

Several local businesses will join RCHospice at its campus to hand out free treats to all the boys and ghouls who stop by.

For of all ages, Bowtie Entertainment will feature Scaraoke — with karaoke and a costume contest — at Axe to Grind in Hamlet from 6-9 p.m.; then move to the Hide-A-Way Tavern from 9-midnight for a similar adult-oriented event.

Hudson Brothers Deli will host its annual costume party starting at 8 p.m. Friday with a performance by the Beach Fever Band, and Outlaw Road will be playing a costume party at Hail Mary’s Tavern.

Festivities continue on Oct. 28, with VFW Post 4203 hosting a Halloween party for kids from 11 a.m.-3 p.m., and the town of Norman will host a Truck or Treat from 1-6 p.m.

There will also be the Rocktoberfest Halloween Party on Saturday from 5-10 p.m. at Rockingham Dragway featuring live music and a DJ, followed by the official afterparty at Double Vision.

First United Methodist Church of Rockingham will host a trunk or treat starting at 4 p.m. Oct. 29, and Roberdel Baptist Church has one starting at 6 p.m.

The Northside Volunteer Fire Department will host a trunk or treat from 6-9 p.m. on Oct. 30; and Richmond Community College will hold its annual Trick or Treat to the Trail from 4-6 p.m. with a $2 entry fee.

Then, on Oct. 31, there are several Halloween happenings:

  • Spooktacular Health and Human Services Fair at Human Services Complex – 3-5 p.m.
  • Downtown (Rockingham) Spooktacular – 4-6 p.m.
  • Trunk or Treat at Dobbins Heights Park – 5-7 p.m.
  • Hamlet’s Halloween Boo Bash – 5:45-8 p.m.
  • Trunk or Treat at Ashley Chapel Community Center – 6-8 p.m.
  • Trunk or Treat at Los Mariachis – 6-8 p.m.

And of course, there will be traditional trick-or-treating, with organizers of Hamlet’s Hylan Horror collecting pet food.
