ROCKINGHAM — There are still plenty booky events left this week as National Library Week draws to a close.
Hamlet Public Library is holding a two-day book and bake sale Friday (10 a.m.-5 p.m.) and Saturday (9 a.m.-1 p.m.) and Kemp Memorial Library in Ellerbe is having a craft day at 2:30 p.m. Friday.
Patrons also still have two days to take advantage of fine forgiveness for overdue books or free replacements for library cards.
The theme for this year’s National Library Week is “Libraries = Strong Communites” and “illustrates how today’s libraries are at the heart of our cities, towns, schools and campuses, providing critical resources, programs and expertise,” according to The Richmond Bugle, the county library system’s newsletter.
“They also provide a public space where all community members, regardless of age, culture or income level, can come together to connect and learn.”
Other events coming up this month include:
- Movie Day at Kemp, April 15, 22 and 29 at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m.
- Easter Craft Night at Leath, April 16 at 3:30-5 p.m.
- Easter Egg Hunt at Hamlet, April 16 at 10 a.m.
- Books & Tea at Leath, April 17, 24 from 3-4 p.m.
- Basic Excel Class at Leath, April 22, 24, May 1 at 10:30 a.m.
- Knitting and Crochet Class at Leath, April 18, 25
- Craft Day at Kemp, April 26
All Richmond County libraries will be closed for Good Friday and Easter Monday.
