Heartfelt Clips and Healthy Tips: Examine Your Perspective

Betty McIntyre.

Many times in life we are faced with difficult decisions and situations we would rather not have to face. In saying this, we all will deal with them at some time in our lives.

The outcome will depend on the perspective you have on the situation. A divorce, a death, a sickness, a disabling accident, a traumatic situation, and so much more can often redirect our path in life.

We must stay focused on the truth of what we know. God tell us in Romans 8:28 that he, “Works for the good to them that love him and are called according to His purpose.”

In trying times, it is crucial to keep focused on His truth. No one has all the answers as to “why” things happen, but one can have the assurance of “knowing” deep down in their souls that God loves us and has our best interest at heart. We still live in a fallen world and are vulnerable to the consequences of it.

In the movie “Forrest Gump” the title character said, “Life is like a box of chocolates, you never know what you’re going to get.” Although he may not have been the smartest rock in the collection, he knew something about life.

There is also a story of a mule who fell in a very deep hole; the hole was so deep he couldn’t climb out. The mule’s owner passed by and noticed the mule had fallen into the deep hole, but even he couldn’t help the mule. Sadly, the owner gathered a few of his friends to help bury his prize mule.

One by one they shoveled dirt into the hole. Each time the dirt hit the back of the mule, he shook it off and stepped on top of it. There was finally enough dirt under his feet that he was able to step right out of that hole. The mule used what would have put him under to allow him to rise up instead. It was all a matter of perspective.

Will you allow life’s potholes and mountains to stop your destination, or will you allow them to shape you into a better person? Lemons are bitter to the taste, but they become very pleasurable when sugar is added. Take time today to step back and examine your perspective on life. You could be the one who helps redirect and make a positive difference in someone else’s destination.

Humidifiers Improve Health

A recent study showed that increasing humidity levels to 43 percent or higher greatly reduce the ability of airborne viruses. Purchasing a humidifier for the home is a healthy decision for your family, especially in the winter months when the heat is constantly running.

Along with helping avoid sicknesses, humidifiers are also beneficial to the skin in allowing the moisture to give a softer, more vibrant complexion. Other benefits include preventing sinuses from drying out and becoming infected, improving healing time from cold, flu, or sinus infections, healthier houseplants, helping to preserve natural wood furnishings, reducing heat bills, less static electricity, and improving sleep.

Humidifiers need to be cleaned regularly (once a week) to continue healthy benefits. Otherwise they become a source of mold and bacteria. Also using distilled or demineralized water can save you cleaning time, as well as extending the life of the humidifier. If yours contains a filter, it should be changed on a regular basis.

Purchase a humidifier and aim for healthier family this winter.
