Fall is finally here, and with every new season, comes change. Especially within “the wardrobe.” You may find yourself peeping into your closet, hoping that the overflow of options gives just enough inspiration to pull through for all your fashion moods this season.

Well, you’ve arrived at this point only to feel frustrated and realize you’re at a haunting end of ,”I have nothing to wear!”

Allow me to introduce you to a fabulous and practical wardrobe fix. Its called the “Capsule Wardrobe.” This capsule movement was popularized by a blogger by the name of Caroline Rector. The Capsule Wardrobe consists of only your favorite wardrobe/closet staple pieces that you absolutely love!

This means that these are the clothes that fit your lifestyle and body right now at this moment, and are more practical for your everyday tasks and activities.

So you ask, where do I start, and how do I maintain my very own Capsule Wardrobe? First, it starts with a closet cleanse. Sort each item into four piles, which are: love, maybe, does not fit, and donate.

Then access what’s left, and items that are kept for your next season should be stored away. Then choose a color palette and all the basic pieces necessary for the season. And yes, this also includes footwear. The suggested number of pieces in each capsule is 35 to 40 items, which may be an intimidating number depending on your obsession of clothes. Or it could be less.

These items include tops, bottoms, dresses, outerwear and shoes that are rotated every three months. You can add new items to the capsule if needed, just keep in mind that these items should be practical, easy to mix and match and compliment other key pieces that you love to wear the most.

For example, a black blazer would be considered a staple piece of clothing. And of course, this is my all time favorite. You can opt to wear with trousers, jeans, a pencil skirt or even a dress. The same applies with shoes; a dress heel, loafer, or an over-the-knee boot, are considered staple pieces.

What I love the most about this awesome  fashion formula is that it helps save on time, for those that who have hectic mornings, like myself. The last thing we need to worry about is what to wear.

It’s amazing  how much having a Capsule Wardrobe really helps. It offers the freedom to reinvent ensembles and outfits that you would have not thought of in the first place. It helps save money, declutter, and simplify life in a fashionable way.
