Interventional cardiologists join FirstHealth and Pinehurst Medical Clinic

PINEHURST — FirstHealth of the Carolinas and Pinehurst Medical Clinic recently welcomed two new fellowship-trained interventional cardiologists, Tiffany Bonnecaze, M.D. and Michael Millard, M.D.

Drs. Bonnecaze and Millard join Pinehurst Medical Clinic’s cardiology team and will serve patients through FirstHealth Cardiology.

Dr. Bonnecaze recently completed an interventional cardiology fellowship at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center and said she’s looking forward to working with a team of cardiology professionals committed to quality patient care.

“What drew me to FirstHealth and Pinehurst Medical Clinic was the collaborative atmosphere within the two groups,” she said. “These practices will allow me to continue to grow while practicing interventional cardiology in the Sandhills.”

Dr. Bonnecaze earned her Doctor of Medicine from Loma Linda University School of Medicine in 2014 and a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry from Southern Adventist University in 2010. She said she’s had an interest in medicine since childhood.

“Growing up I enjoyed reading books written by physicians and surgeons that detailed interesting cases and the things they learned from their patients,” she said. “These stories, paired with the support of my family and professors, helped lead me to a career in medicine. I found a love for cardiology in medical school and now many years later I am excited to practice interventional cardiology.”

Outside of work, Dr. Bonnecaze said she enjoys spending time with her husband, Alex, and the couple’s Siberian Husky, Rocky. She also enjoys cooking, traveling and spending time with friends.

Dr. Millard recently completed a fellowship in interventional cardiology and cardiovascular disease at the Texas Heart Institute. He earned his Doctor of Medicine from St. Louis University in 2014 after completing a Bachelor of Science in Applied Science from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 2010.

He said he’s excited to come back home and serve patients in the Sandhills.

“I’m excited to return to my home state and join a group of highly regarded cardiologists,” Dr. Millard said. “It’s an honor and a privilege to take care of patients in Pinehurst and the surrounding areas.”

Dr. Millard said his love of math and science and a desire to help others led to his career in medicine.

“Within medicine, interventional cardiology provides the unique opportunity to longitudinally care for patients in a variety of settings including procedures in the cardiac catheterization lab, inpatient care in the coronary care unit and outpatient clinic visits,” he said.

In his free time, he enjoys watching sports, exercising and spending time with his family.

FirstHealth Cardiology and Pinehurst Medical Clinic are committed to meeting the area’s growing need for access to cardiac care, specializing in treating several diseases and conditions to include coronary artery disease, congestive heart failure, hypertension, arrhythmias, and much more.
