Electric Lineman graduation creating buzz for upcoming June class Richmond Community College

HAMLET — Richmond Community College will hold its second Electric Lineman graduation on Wednesday, May 15 for successful completers of the program. The graduation ceremony will be take place on Main Campus at the Cole Auditorium in Hamlet at 10 a.m.

Twenty-two students are on the path to completing and graduating this 10-week program.  Each student has been progressing rapidly and has received exceptionally high test scores in both written and practical performance testing. The Electric Lineman Program is continuing to grow and the next class will begin on June 3, 2019.

The Electric Lineman course prepares individuals to work as line workers to repair electrical utility service. Graduates will know the basic elements of electricity, overhead pole and electrical line constructions, safety codes and applications, electric power system, transformer and meter installations, and explorations of underground electrical distribution.

Richmond Community College is incredibly excited to see the students mature and gain employment in the field of Electrical Lineman. Scott Caulder and Angineek Gillenwater have been instrumental in the planning and implementation of this in-demand program. We are continuing to grow and evolve in an attempt to help students gain credentials and skills needed for gainful rewarding employment. 

Upon completion of the course, students will have obtained certifications in OSHA 10, NCCER (National Center for Construction Education and Research), First Aid/CPR and possess CDL learner’s permit.

Due to the demand for the class RichmondCC is currently accepting applications for part-time instructors for the Electric Lineman program. The next class begins on June 3. To be eligible to take this course you must be at least 18 years old.
