N.C. peach season kicks off summer

RALEIGH — The first day of summer may be right around the corner, but fresh N.C. peaches are already available at farmers markets and roadside stands across the state. While not a bumper crop, local growers do expect to have plenty of peaches through Labor Day.

Community comes together for Christmas in Derby

DERBY — For more than a decade, the Lambeth family, of Triple L Farms, has been hosting a community Christmas party at the old general store where they sell produce.

ROCKINGHAM — For four generations, the Lambeth family has been agriculturally active in the Derby community in northeastern Richmond County.

From peaches to pine needles, tobacco to chickens, the farm has stayed productive over the years.

The Lambeths’ Triple L Farms was named the county’s Farm of the Year during Monday’s annual Farmer’s Luncheon at the Cooperative Extension office, part of the Farm-City Week celebration.
