Activities continue at Dobbins Heights Community Center

DOBBINS HEIGHTS — Although the month is half over, the Dobbins Heights Community Center has several events left on its calendar.

Oct. 16, 30 – Clothing drive from 2-4 p.m. Clothes must be washed and wearable (no rips or stains) prior to donating. Those in need of these resources are encouraged to come out.

Oct. 19, 23 – Habitat clean-ups. The first will include power-washing, trimming bushes and painting the porch. Contact Sumaya Webster at 240-484-4075 for the site address. The second will be down Earle Franklin Drive, and around the community center and park and include setting up for Trunk-or-Treat.

Oct. 23 – No Human Left Hungry. This program is created for low-income families, seniors, shut-ins and homeless individuals. No Human Left Hungry runs twice a month on Wednesdays from 4-6 p.m.

Oct. 27 – Jazz Night/Costume Party. There will be a contest where the grand prize given to the best costume in the room.

Get Fit Quick is held each Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 10 a.m. Participants are encouraged to bring water bottles and face towels and expect to sweat.

The community center also has a slot for local churches to place their announcements or programs to get the word out about their events.
