Discovery Place changes COVID-19 safety protocols

CHARLOTTE — The CDC and state of North Carolina recently made significant changes to COVID-19 safety guidelines.

Discovery Place has spent time evaluating these changes and will adjust our protocols in such a way that we can continue to follow what the science is telling us and maintain a safe environment for people to visit and to work.

Effective Wednesday, May 26, visitors who are vaccinated will have the option of wearing a face covering or going without during their time at any Discovery Place museum.

As recommended by the CDC, all non-vaccinated individuals (ages 2 and up) still are asked to wear their masks throughout the duration of their visit.

Temperature checks will no longer be conducted when visitors arrive, however COVID-19 health screening questions will still be asked.

Advanced ticket purchase is still required for timed entry.

Re-entry once inside the Museum is still prohibited.

Social distancing guidance, capacity restrictions and cleaning protocols will remain the same.

As we all get comfortable with the new guidelines put in place at the national and state levels, we have decided to continue requiring all staff to wear masks while inside our facilities, regardless of their vaccination status.

We will continue to evaluate our policies and protocols to determine what, if any, additional changes should be made.

We look forward to seeing you soon at one of our museums!
