OPINION: More on Mayberry

On Thursday afternoon around 6:15, East Rockingham Fire Department was dispatched to a vehicle fire at the intersection of Hwy 1 South and Eason Drive. There were no injuries to the driver and the fire was quickly extinguished upon the arrival of the fire department. Officers from the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office assisted with Traffic control until the scene was cleared. Units were back in service at 7:00 pm.

Hamlet: Once a Cold Spot for the South

 

BRRRRR!

At one time, Hamlet had one of the largest cold spots in the South, all year round. It originated chills not only in the area, but up and down the east coast.
