HAMLET — Two teens are facing charges after firing off several shots Wednesday morning.

According to the Hamlet Police Department, officers responded to a call of shots fired in the area of S. Bridges and Lackey streets just after 7 a.m. April 10.

The caller reported seeing two black males discharging firearms near an abandoned building, police say.

Officers reportedly found the suspects, both of whom were juveniles, and seized two firearms.

A subsequent investigation led to the recovery of nine additional guns, according to police.

The teens were reportedly “very compliant” and only shot into the ground.

However, they are facing charges of carrying a concealed gun, discharging a firearm in city limits, and being a minor in possession of a firearm.

Their names cannot be released because they are under the age of 18.

All defendants facing criminal charges are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
