Tuesday Accident Report: Bust 24 Hours for Local Emergency Responders

CORDOVA – Monday was a busy day for local emergency services, as crews responded to several accidents throughout the county.

First, emergency responders were dispatched at 5:58 a.m. Monday morning to a collision on Highway 1 South.

The accident occurred on the highway where the road changes from four lanes to two lanes just south of the 311 exit ramp. A  tractor trailer was merging into the flow of traffic when it collided with the pickup.

Neither of the drivers required any medical attention, and traffic was not interrupted going either direction of Highway 1.

Responding to the accident were Cordova Fire Rescue, FirstHealth Richmond EMS, Richmond County Sheriff’s Office and the North Carolina Highway Patrol.

The accident is being investigated by the Highway Patrol.
