PINEHURST – Another specialist in vascular surgery has joined FirstHealth Vascular & Vein. Olufunsho D. Adamolekun (David), D.O., has joined the FirstHealth team, which is staffed by Pinehurst Surgical providers Clinton Atkinson, M.D., Glenn Fusonie, M.D. and Paul Vieta Jr., M.D., and certified physician assistants Desek Gibson, Adam Clark and Stephen Bush.

Dr. Adamolekun has relocated with his family to Southern Pines from Detroit, Michigan, where he recently completed his fellowship in vascular surgery at Detroit Medical Center/Wayne State University.

However, he is familiar with North Carolina, having lived in Durham since he was a teenager. He met his wife, who is from Pinehurst, in Raleigh while attending graduate school, and became familiar with the “pines” area nearly 10 years ago.

Choosing to be part of this FirstHealth team involved both professional and family factors, he says.

“I love this area; North Carolina is home for both me and my wife and we love Moore County. While interviewing I fell in love with FirstHealth, and it was an easy decision to make FirstHealth my new work home.”

Dr. Adamolekun earned his medical degree from the West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine, in Lewisburg, West Virginia. He completed an internship at North Shore Health System/Plainview Hospital in Plainview, New York and a general surgery residency at Mercy St. Vincent Medical Center in Toledo, Ohio.

He feels extremely confident in his decision to join FirstHealth, and his ability to provide only the best care.

“This is my first job since completing my fellowship,” he says. “I look forward to making a permanent home here in Moore County and at FirstHealth Vascular & Vein. I am enjoying getting to know this community and the people that work here. And most importantly, I am excited to get to know my patients and become a stable provider for them.”

“I come from a humble beginning, and to be here in this position and providing care for people is something I am extremely proud of. I am grateful for this opportunity and look forward to my future here,” he adds.

In his spare time, Dr. Adamolekun enjoys traveling and especially likes spending time with his wife and 18-month-old son outdoors.
