ROCKINGHAM - The phrase “busy as a bee” rings true for these little fellows as they diligently work day and night. There are around 4000 different types of native bee species in North America that are now considered to be on the endangered species list; sadly, honeybees are included on this list.

These bees are necessary to plants as they fly from flower to flower collecting pollen which is then transferred to other flowers during the process. As the pollen is transferred, the flowers are pollinated; this is needed in order for plants to reproduce, which is vital to the human race.

ROCKINGHAM - We have all heard the question: “Is your glass half full or half empty?” I guess that would depend upon the mentality of the person holding the glass. Life will surely bring the ups as well as the downs which cause us to feel the effects of the empty glass.

ROCKINGHAM - Not long ago I was talking with my oldest daughter Jessica who lives out of town. She has been a stay-at-home mom since her first baby was born six years ago; now she has two, one age six and one age four.

RICHMOND COUNTY - Art students from Richmond Senior High School (RSHS) as well as the Ninth Grade Academy are getting ready for an upcoming show that will take place for one day only.

Memorial Day Flag Project

ROCKINGHAM - Memorial Day is a very special time for America as we remember those who died while serving in the country’s military.

It is observed on the last Monday of May which this year will be on Monday, May 28th.

Some confuse Memorial Day with Veterans' Day. The difference is that on Veterans' Day we celebrate all the U.S. military veterans who have served; on Memorial Day we remember those who lost their lives while serving.

ROCKINGHAM - At one time or another, we have all experienced life’s ups and downs in our lives.

GREENSBORO - In the past few months, I have grown to know a lot of people from the Greensboro area. In saying that, the tornado that touched down in Greensboro on April 15 hit home for me.

ROCKINGHAM - Now that spring is in full bloom, the Richmond County Special Olympics’ (RCSO) Spring Games are not far off.

For those of you who read my first article on Jimmy the Pig, you are somewhat familiarized with his character. For those of you who didn’t get to read it, you can search through the articles here in Lifestyle to find “This Little Piggy Went to Market” from October of last year to get caught up on Jimmy’s story.
