Ladies Day Out set for Saturday at Cole Auditorium

HAMLET — Women from Richmond and surrounding counties will have a day all to themselves on Saturday as the fifth annual Ladies Day Out kicks off from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. inside Cole Auditorium on the campus of Richmond Community College.

According to Event Coordinator Sharon Nichols, the festivities will feature artisans and vendors, beauty professionals, food and entertainment. Specific exhibits will include art with pen and ink drawings, crafts, gourmet dog treats, doll clothes, gourmet food mixes, handmade jewelry, kitchen items, pillows, handcrafted purses and soaps, tote bags, watercolor paintings, custom hand-turned wood creations and travel planning, among many other things to help pamper the ladies.

“This is a ‘getaway for the girls’ day,'” said Nichols. “It’s a shopping day with some pampering, fun and entertainment added.”

Some of the entertainment will be provided in the form of beauty consultations with makeup and nail treatments, as well as the “Smoothie Bike,” a bicycle that literally makes smoothies while you ride; an idea that came to fruition on ABC’s “Shark Tank” and will be on display from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The “Friends in Harmony” Show Chorus will also perform, attendees can get gardening tips from Paige Burns of the Cooperative Extension Office, and ladies can enjoy lunch with Chef Lisa and her delicious baked goods.

Nichols said the goal of the show is to provide a unique experience for the ladies of Richmond and surrounding counties. “Attendees come from Fayetteville and Monroe, as well as South Carolina,” she said.

Admission is only $5, and the first 50 ladies to arrive will receive a special goodie bag.

“We have a selection of exhibitors attending, but it isn’t just about the shopping,” Nichols said. “Ladies can get a beauty consultation and makeup touch ups. Maybe get their nails done. On stage we’ll have entertainment and gardening presentations. There will be a lunch and sweet treats available so this will be a fun day to bring your girlfriends.”

Ladies Day Out is sponsored by Belk, Helms Jewelers, One Stop Print Shop, WLWL Big Wave Radio and The Richmond Observer. For more information on the event, visit www.LadiesDayOutNC.com or call 910-331-9965.
