HAMLET — The timeless sounds of Motown will give way to an unforgettable concert experience, “The Magic of Motown,” coming Tuesday, Jan. 22, to the Cole Auditorium located on the main campus of Richmond Community College.

In the 1960s, some of the most iconic names in musical history were discovered in the Motor City of Detroit, which brought a craze that spread worldwide and transformed into 1970s soul music. Celebrating the artists and the music they created, “The Magic of Motown” is a tribute to the culture-defining songs of pop music history.

Now seen by over one million people, worldwide, “The Magic of Motown” celebrates the music from Marvin Gaye, Diana Ross, Stevie Wonder, The Temptations, The Supremes, The Four Tops, Martha Reeves, Jackson 5, Smokey Robinson and more. The hits from these iconic artists have been recreated for you by an exceptionally talented cast and band.

Joey Bennett, director of the Cole Auditorium, said patrons who have viewed the online video have commented not only about how much the show’s performers sound like the original singers, but also how the music takes them back to days gone by.  A preview of this video can be viewed online at www.richmondcc.edu/dewitt-series or on the Cole’s social media outlets.
