New Richmond County teachers treated to mixer after training

HAMLET — As summer break comes to an end, Richmond County Schools is welcoming several new teachers to our district. Monday, Aug. 15, a cohort of new teachers joined together at East Rockingham Elementary School to kick off the Beginning Teacher Training.

The training, organized by Dr. Tesha Isler, was filled with four days of awesome information to help our new teachers be as prepared as possible for the upcoming school year. This group gained knowledge from several leaders within our district on policies, procedures, and best practices.

Following their training on Wednesday afternoon, the Richmond County Chamber of Commerce hosted the Beginning Teacher Mixer. The Mixer was filled with excitement, finger foods, community support, and fun prizes. Several local businesses (Vulcan, State Employees Credit Union, Pee Dee Electric, Rick’s Catering, and Tina Miller State Farm) participated in the event to allow the new teachers to experience what Richmond County has to offer.

After socializing and exploring each vendor, Dr. Julian Carter and Chamber President Kristi King raffled off several prizes and extra classroom materials.

Richmond County Schools is so excited to have each of our new teachers joining us this school year. We are also beyond grateful for the support we have received from the community, specifically the Richmond County Chamber of Commerce team for providing the experience of the Beginning Teacher Mixer.
