HAMLET — The Cole Auditorium, located on main campus of Richmond Community College, welcomes the Canadian Celtic group Next Generation Leahy on Thursday, April 11.

Cole Auditorium patrons may remember this group when they performed as part of the 2008-2009 Dewitt Series. Building on more than three generations of musicianship, Doug and Jennifer Leahy and their six children are keeping the Celtic traditions alive through music, song and dance. Born into show business, it is no surprise that the children have inherited the same passion for music and dance. From the youngest to the oldest, Next Generation Leahy, are not only successfully upholding but creating the Leahy legacy for the future.

This live performance is filled with high-energy, Celtic-based musical performances. From the fiddle to the piano and the French-Canadian step-dancing, all find a special voice on stage. This is a joyful and unique show that will leave the audiences of all ages excited and highly entertained.

Joey Bennett, director of the Cole Auditorium, said we are excited to have this family back. These are the same children that several in our audience will remember as being barely big enough to hold a fiddle. “The musical family is certain to amaze the audience with their versatility and ability, from step-dancing to multiple instruments, and beyond.”

The joy of music is meant for all, and Doug and his family are set on sharing that joy with each and every audience. A preview of this video can be viewed online at www.richmondcc.edu/dewitt-series or on the Cole’s social media outlets.

The show will begin at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, April 11. Dewitt Performing Art Series season ticket holders can use their tickets for entry, but single tickets are available for $30 to $50 each. Call 910-410-1691 for ticket details or visit the Cole Auditorium box office located at 1042 W. Hamlet Ave., Hamlet.
