ROCKINGHAM — One Richmond County resident is adding to the uniqueness of what’s been dubbed “Palindrome Day.”

The date, Feb. 22, 2022, is written numerically as 2-22-22 and is being referred to on social media as “Twosday.” A palindrome is a word or number that reads the same in reverse.

In a digital format, the date is also an ambigram, appearing the same upside down.

For Joshua Ray Bell, of Rockingham, it’s also his 22nd birthday: he is now 22 on 2-22-22.

Bell is a student in the Electric Utility Substation & Relay Technology program at Richmond Community College and works at Lowe’s.

He is the son of Ron and Terry Whittington of Rockingham and Donnie Ray Bell of Rockingham and the grandson of Thomas (Little Boy) and Juanita Quick of Hamlet and James and Ann Bell of Lumberton.

Bell plans to celebrate the special day with family and friends at Pinehurst Brewing Co.

The dates for the rest of the month will also be palindromes.
