WIND BLOW — Family, friends and customers drove to the northeast corner of Richmond County on Saturday to help Bynum’s Peaches celebrate 100 years of farming.

The N.C. Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services earlier this year recognized the family farm as a Century Farm.

Owners Danny and Sherry Bynum lined the produce stand on N.C. 73 with a variety of old tractors and farm equipment. Underneath the peach shed were family photos and documents, going back to the original owners, C.H. and Onis Bynum, who moved to the Sandhills from Lincoln County in 1922.

To celebrate, the Bynums gave away hamburgers, hot dogs, drinks — and peach ice cream. Several gift baskets were raffled off and music was provided by local bluegrass band, the Axe Handlers.
