ELLERBE — Hundreds gathered at or around the Ellerbe Lions Club on Tuesday for the organization’s annual 4th of July Jamboree.

The event, which has been held for more than four decades, serves as the club’s major fundraiser for the year.

COVID concerns led to the event being canceled in 2020 and 2021.

Nearby, the Berry Patch — which stepped in for those two years to fill the void — hosted a free concert featuring the Beach Fever Band and several food trucks.

Hamlet’s Independence Day celebration was held on July 1 due to scheduling with the fireworks company.
