HAMLET — The third installment of the Boxcar Concert Series kicked off Friday evening at Main Street Park with the Beach Fever Band.

The playlist featured beach music classics from bands like Chairmen of the Board, as well as a beach-rock-country medley of Jim Quick’s “Mama’s Drinkin’ Liquor Again,” Free’s “All Right Now” and Billy Ray Cyrus’ “Achey Breaky Heart.”

Singer-guitarist-saxophone player Kevin Parrish, of Hamlet, stepped down off the stage several times to interact with the crowd.

Other band members include: bassist Gary Raines and guitarist Carl Giddens, both of Rockingham; and drummer NiQuan Sims and keyboardist-vocalist Zachary Kendall, both from Scotland County.
