For the third consecutive year, Hamlet held its Christmas parade after dark.

The Christmas Parade of Lights featured more than 60 entries decorated with lights as they made their way down Main, Rice, Charlotte and Raleigh streets.

Entries included many local businesses, local elected officials, first responders from neighboring counties and three regional high school bands, with the Marching Raiders being the first.

Director of Community Engagement Mechelle Preslar said the winners will be announced on Monday.

Richmond County Hospice has won the past two years but another crowd favorite appears to be The Cooke Boys Septic Services’ entry inspired by “National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation,” complete with an oversized Christmas tree and Cousin Eddie.
