ROCKINGHAM — Hundreds of people filled their cups with craft brews Saturday at Rockingham Dragway for the Richmond County Chamber of Commerce’s annual Hoptoberfest.
More than 16 craft beers from across the state, including several varieties Southern Pines Brewing Co., were on tap at the festival.
Attendees tried samples of the beers and chicken wings from the competition teams while Charlotte-based ’90s cover band Gump Fiction rocked through a set list that included Lenny Kravitz’s “Are You Gonna Go My Way” and ended with Pearl Jam’s “Evenflow.”
After the band finished, Chamber President Kristi King thanked all the sponsors, including Perdue Farms for donating the chicken for the wing contest.
The winners of the contest were:
- Fourth Place – Boss Hawg
- Third Place – Nothing Fancy
- Second Place and People’s Choice – Grill on the Go
- First Place – Hogfather
