ROCKINGHAM — Despite a rainy start, the clouds parted for the first SpringFest since 2017.
Eleven teams participating in the barbecue cook-off, sponsored by Smithfield Foods, got their starts Friday night in the parking lot across from Hudson Brothers.
The Rockingham Fire Department came in second to The Hogfather — who also won the wing competition last fall at the Richmond County Chamber of Commerce’s Hoptoberfest. The team from Snider Fleet Solutions won the People’s Choice trophy.
The event also featured a record number of vendors and performances from Erik Hawks and Bucky Covington.
