ROCKINGHAM — Beach music legends the Embers featuring Craig Woolard took the stage at Cole Plaza July 7 for the third show in the city’s Plaza Jam summer concert series.

The band belted through beach and soul classics from their own catalog as well as other bands from the genre, including the Tams who are scheduled to perform in September.

Woolard gave several birthday shoutouts to audience members, recognized recently retired teacher Jonna Carter and taught a group of kids a few dances.

With the threat of rain “around the corner,” Woolard cut the show a little short and, in lieu of the customary salute to veterans, the frontman improvised “America the Beautiful” to the tune of Journey’s “Don’t Stop Believin’.”
