HAMLET — Main Street Park was temporarily converted into an outdoor worship center Friday evening for the second installment of the 2024 Boxcar Concert Series.

Regional singing group 2nd Chance Ministries, based out of Cheraw, South Carolina, returned to the stage as the only gospel group to perform in the series, which is now in its third season.

The trio just returned to the Carolinas from a recording session in Nashville, Tennessee.

Ricky Malloy took turns on lead vocals with baritone singer Brandon Gainey and tenor Brian Alvey.

The set list included originals and renditions of gospel standards like “I’ll Fly Away.”
