Howard Richardson submitted the following pieces as the holiday season approaches:
I am glad I got to go to heaven to see Christmas this year.
I got to walk down the streets of gold and see the angles flying;
The heavenly choir singing.
I saw Mary and Joseph and the Babe in the manger;
Saw the shepherds tending sheep in the night.
Saw the wise men bring gifts.
And saw the star in the East.
But most of all, I saw the reason for the season sitting on his throne.
And the heavenly choir singing glory to God in the highest,
Peace on Earth, and good will to men.
I am glad I got to go to heaven to see Christmas this year.
I go to see Mama, Daddy, Grandma, Grandpa and all that had gone before.
I am glad I got to go to heaven to see Christmas this year.

I am glad I got to see Christmas on Earth this year.
I didn’t get to walk down the streets of gold;
But I did walk down the byways of Earth.
I didn’t get to see the angles flying.
I saw Earth angles making others happy,
By caroling and making the elderly and shut-ins happy by brightening their lives.
That is loving others as yourself.
I didn’t see Mary, Joseph, and the Babe in the manger.
Or the shepherds tending their sheep, or the wise men bring gifts.
I did see the star in the East where it always is.
But I did see the live nativity scenes at churches.
Saw people of faith sharing and enjoying,
Letting others see the story of the reason for the season.
And what it really means.
There were also the shepherds with their sheep,
there were wise men with gifts,
and the star in the East.
I am glad I got to see Christmas here on Earth this year.
And the reason for the season was there among everyone,
As the people told of the Savior of the world He was there.
I am glad I got to see Christmas here on Earth this year.
I didn’t see Mama, Daddy, Grandma, Grandpa, or the others that had gone on before.
But I did see young people singing glory to God in the highest,
Peace on Earth and good will to men.
And meaning every word, as it came from their hearts.
I am glad I got to see Christmas here on Earth this year.
