LILESVILLE — Several Richmond County bikers made the trip across the Pee Dee River Saturday, Nov. 12 to help provide toys for kids in Anson County.

The annual Toys for Tots ride is hosted by the Rockingham chapter of Playaz Elite Motorcycle Club and this year’s event was in memory of the club’s late president, William “Bugga” Sturdivant.

His mother, Vancine Sturdivant, is the coordinator for Anson County Toys for Tots.

In addition to The Litas, an all-female group, and members of the Carolina Motorcycle Charity Riders Association, there were also bikers from Carthage, Jackson Springs, Laurinburg and Chesterfield, South Carolina, supporting the cause.

Although Changing the Game Motorcycle Club, based in Laurinburg, didn’t participate in the ride, members still came to donate toys.
Bikers weren’t the only ones from Richmond County to cross the river.

Clerk of Superior Court Vickie Daniel introduced Robert McRae, owner of Over the Rainbow Child Development Center, who made a $500 donation to the cause in Bugga’s memory.
