ROCKINGHAM — Two local senior centers joined forces Thursday to honor older area mothers.
The East Rockingham Senior Center, in conjunction with the Hamlet Senior, hosted a tea party ahead of Mothers Day, which is this coming Sunday.
“All of these women have been such amazing inspiration to us and we wanted to give them a special day, said Kim Hotter, director of the East Rockingham center.
According to Hotter, the party included fresh cupcakes, donated by Nothing But Bundt in Fayetteville, and herbal teas.
The moms also planted flowers and painted ceramic tea cups and saucers to place plants. Norton Farms also donated flowers for the attendees.
Hotter also thanked the centers’ staff and volunteers for helping make such parties possible.
“We hope you ladies felt appreciated and special today,” she said.
