FAYETTEVILLE — Two Richmond County natives are starring in an upcoming musical at Methodist University.

Cameron McDonald and Ashleigh Adamson both have roles in “The Fantasticks,” a musical written by Harvey Schmidt and Tom Jones that ran off-Broadway for more than 40 years, starting in 1960.

According to Broadway.com, the musical is “the story of a young boy and girl who fall madly in love at the hands of their meddling fathers, but soon grow restless and stray from one another.”

It is credited as being the world’s longest-running musical.

McDonald was awarded a scholarship to the college in 2018. He is majoring in music education and is expected to graduate in May.
