HAMLET — Rain or shine, the show will go on.

Eck and the Radio is slated to be the fourth band to perform in Hamlet’s Boxcar Concert Series, with the show starting at 6 p.m. Friday, July 26 in Main Street Park.

The band, featuring members from Randolph and Chatham counties, has a set list of older country and rock hits including songs from Elvis and Buck Owens.

When the band made its first appearance in 2023, the performance included a rockabilly rendition of Lady Gaga’s “Bad Romance.”

This year, bands have been playing on a stage set up at the back end of the park’s green. However, in the case of rain this week, Director of Community Engagement Mechelle Preslar said the band will move underneath the picnic shelter.

If there’s thunder or lightning, Preslar said the show will be canceled.

The Boxcar Concert Series is held the fourth Friday of each month, coinciding with TGIFriday Food Trucks on Main. The food truck lineup for this week includes: Mama Blair’s; Burger Bros; Unity BBQ; Tacos Mr. Pancho; Big D’s Mini Donuts; and Puckered Up Lemonade.

Food trucks will be across the street behind the Visitors Center.

The Blewett Dam Band will also be performing Friday night at Hudson Brothers Deli in Rockingham, and Too Much Sylvia returns to Cole Plaza next week for the August installment of Plaza Jam.

All shows are free.
