Rockingham Middle Jr. Beta members awarded at state convention

ROCKINGHAM — Seventy-six members of the Rockingham Middle School Junior Beta Club attended the 28th Annual Junior Beta Convention at the Koury Convention Center in Greensboro, North Carolina, held Feb. 3-5, 2020.

Members of the club competed in the following competitions: Jewelry Making, Recyclable art, Woodworking, Sculpture, Fiber Arts, Two-dimensional design, Three-dimensional design, Songfest, Living Literature, Portfolio, Apparel design, Photography, and Mixed media. 

Academic competitions included Engineering, Language Arts, Math, Science, Social Studies, Technology, Robotics, Marketing and Communications, Poetry, Battle of the Books, Quiz Bowl, Creative Writing, and Speech. 

The Rockets enjoyed great success in numerous competitions including the following: 

1st place

Visual Arts: Fiber Arts 

Lily Wilson – Grade 8

Songfest 

In addition to student competitions, the statewide gathering included conference meetings, officer elections and guest speakers. 

The National Junior Beta Club promotes the ideals of academic achievement, character, service and leadership among secondary students. 

The 2020 National Junior Beta Convention is slated for June 19-22 at the Fort Worth Convention Center in Fort Worth, Texas.
