PINEHURST — Cancer impacts people everywhere. Nearly 17 million people are living with and beyond cancer in America, and there are more than 43 million cancer survivors around the world.

FirstHealth is committed to providing high-quality cancer care and recognizing the brave fighters who are taking on the disease each day.

This May, cancer survivors throughout the Sandhills are invited to a beach music party to celebrate National Cancer Survivors Day.

FirstHealth’s celebration is Thursday, May 9 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at The Fair Barn (200 Beulah Hill Road South, Pinehurst).

The Sand Band will provide beach music and the event will also feature a dessert bar and remarks from breast cancer survivor Rebecaa Lapping. Hawaiian shirts or beach resort wear is encouraged.

“We are thrilled to be gathering with cancer survivors and their families for our annual celebration,” Laura Kuzma, FirstHealth’s administrative director of Oncology Services and Clinical Trials, said. “What better way to celebrate than with some beach music and good desserts.”

The event is free but registration is required. Visit www.FirstHealth.org/CSD or call 800-213-3284 for more information.
