“That Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith;” Ephesians 3:17a
Finally, after working on the puzzle for the last few days, I have all but one piece in place! That one piece though, belongs in the exact center of the puzzle. Without it, my work is not complete. No matter that all the rest of the puzzle looks really good, I desperately need that final piece to make it look best.
You know, our hearts are like this. We come into this world with a piece of our heart missing, and that vacancy is shaped like God. We may look good but without God living in our heart, we are not complete. It is through faith that we invite God into our hearts, thereby making us whole. As His children our hearts become the home of Christ.
The heart in this example is not your physical, beating heart, but represents the center of the spiritual life. As the Believer’s Bible commentary puts it, “This involves constant dependence on Him, constant surrender to Him, and constant recognition of His “at home-ness”.”
Do you feel something is missing in your life? Do you need that final piece to complete you? Ask Jesus into your heart and realize the truth of John 14:23, “Jesus answered and said unto him, If a man loves me, he will keep my words: and my Father will love him and we will come unto him, and make our abode with him.”
Christ is the completion, the perfect piece for your life.
