ROCKINGHAM — The only band to perform during every season of the Plaza Jam summer concert series returns for another year on Thursday.
Atlanta-based R&B group The Tams will take the stage at Cole Plaza at 6:30 p.m.
The Tams were founded in 1960 and had several top 10 hits. They have been honored with two gold records and several awards and were inducted into the Georgia Music Hall of Fame, according to their website.

Leading the group is Albert “Little Redd” Cottle, son of original member Charles Pope, who has been performing since he was 6 years old.
Their backing band, the 14 Karat Gold Band, will kick things off with a 30-minute set before the group members come on donning their namesake tam o’shanters, performing their hit songs including “What Kind of Fool (Do You Think I Am)” and “I’ve Been Hurt.”

The only year the band didn’t perform was 2020, when state government regulations regarding mass gatherings in response to the COVID pandemic caused the season to be canceled.

Per usual, AMVETS Post 316 will be selling food in the Leath Memorial Library parking lot, with Kona Ice offering frozen treats.

This will be the next to the last concert of the season, with the legendary Band of Oz closing out in October.

The 2022 season kicked off in May with another first-time band, Chocolate Chip and Company, followed by The Entertainers in June, The Embers featuring Craig Woolard in July, and the Cat 5 Band in August.
