UNC Pembroke was well represented at this year’s HackNC event –– recognized as one of the largest hackathons in the southeastern United States.
HackNC is an annual, student-run hackathon attended by hundreds of college students hosted by the University of North Carolina campus at Chapel Hill from November 4-6.
“We focused on networking and potentially disbursing into separate random team matchups to get as many different experiences as possible,” Jean Choi, who was among the UNCP delegation. “Everyone utilized their time and attended workshops, a sponsorship fair, and networked with others. This experience was amazing, and we were able to experience being in a new environment and interact with other computer science students and network.”
Most UNCP attendees were computer science majors, including Choi, James Shover, Ashabori Mayurakkkhi, Robert Huynh, Joseph Smith, Hermela Berhe and Salma Mifdal.
Dr. Prashanth BusiReddyGari, assistant professor and program coordinator of UNCP’s cybersecurity program, was also in attendance.
