Below is a short list of events coming up in the area this month.

 

April 11: Foster Parent and Caregiver Support Group will be held at Richmond County Department of Social Services located at 125 Caroline St. in Rockingham from 5:30-7 pm. April 16: Youth and Vaping 101 Workshop will be held at the Anson Co. Cooperative Extension Center located at 501 McLaurin St. in Wadesboro from noon-1:30 pm. Travis Greer, Youth Prevention Coordinator with Cumberland County Dept. of Public Health will be the guest speaker. Resources and lunch will be provided free. April Events at the Dobbins Heights Community Center

April 5, 1 p.m. — Kerry Alzner will be teaching self defense 

April 8, 6 p.m. — Unity in the Community meeting —free hamburgers and hotdogs

April 10, 2 p.m. — Senior Game Day: Bingo, free snacks

April 17,  4 p.m. — No Human Left Hungry — free soup and crackers 

April 13, 2 p.m. — Combined Insurance talking about getting Insurance 

April 22, 11 a.m. — Easter egg hunt

April 26, 4 p.m. — $1 Movie Night 

Monday-Wednesday, 10 a.m. Zumba

All events are free aside from movie night.

 

The Chesterfield District Chapter of the  South Carolina Genealogical Society will meet Sunday, April 7, 2019, at 3 PM in the meeting room of the Chesterfield Visitors Center (Old 1884 Court House) at 100 Main St. Chesterfield, S.C. Speaker will be Glynn F. Willis, Florence city councilman, a former resident of the county.  He will share memories of living in Chesterfield in the ‘50s and ‘60s.

Meetings and research library are open to the public. The library is open Saturdays from 10 a.m.-3 p.m.

 

The first Church League Softball meeting will be Monday, April 8 at 7 p.m. at Freedom Baptist Church. Any church interested needs to have a representative at this meeting. New rules and entry fee will be discussed. Schedules should be done and ready to be passed out at the second meeting (TBD). All games will be played at East Rockingham Park on Monday and Thursday nights. Any questions, contact Dale Denson at 910-334-0588.

 

April 20: Youth and Young Adult Power Lunch will be held from noon-2 p.m. at Falling Creek Gym, 417 Hood St., Rockingham. The theme is “Achieving more: Work smarter, not harder,” and Robert David will be the guest speaker.
