ROCKINGHAM — Car dealerships and pharmacies are among the 25 Richmond County businesses that received Paycheck Protection Program loans from the U.S. Small Business Administration.
The SBA on Monday released information regarding the 4.9 million loans that were made under the program.
The data released includes business names, addresses, a range of how much was loaned, how many jobs were protected and the date the loans were approved of those companies who received loans in the following ranges:
- $150,000-350,000
- $350,000-1 million
- $1-2 million
- $2-5 million
- $5-10 million
Those receiving less than $150,000 are not named.
“The PPP is providing much-needed relief to millions of American small businesses, supporting more than 51 million jobs and over 80 percent of all small business employees, who are the drivers of economic growth in our country,” Secretary Steven T. Mnuchin said in a press release. “We are particularly pleased that 27% of the program’s reach in low and moderate income communities which is in proportion to percentage of population in these areas.
“The average loan size is approximately $100,000, demonstrating that the program is serving the smallest of businesses,” he continued. “Today’s release of loan data strikes the appropriate balance of providing the American people with transparency, while protecting sensitive payroll and personal income information of small businesses, sole proprietors, and independent contractors.”
According to a report released June 30, nearly 122,000 companies in North Carolina received $12.48 billion — more than twice as much as South Carolina. Businesses in Virginia and Washington received similar amounts as N.C.
Companies in California, Texas and New York combined received more than $145 billion.
