HAMLET — Police are investigating a series of break-ins on the east side of town within a two-day period.
According to Capt. Randy Dover of the Hamlet Police Department, vehicles at five residences were reportedly broken into from Oct. 6-7.
Two were on Louis Breeden Boulevard, the other three were on Durham Street, Second Street and Old Bennettsville Road, Dover said.
The suspects were reportedly caught on camera at one of the homes on Louis Breeden.
The victim posted the video to the Richmond Observer’s Facebook page on Sunday and said the suspects broke into her jeep and stole her wallet. She also said they attempted to enter the house through the back door.
The face of one of the suspects can be seen before he pulls down a hood and puts his head down. The other suspect covers his face when he walks into frame. They appear to look into a window before running off.
Dover said investigators believe the cases are related because of the locations and time frame. The break-ins are still under investigation and no charges have yet been filed.
As always, he encourages residents to make sure their vehicles are locked.
“I don’t care how safe you think your neighborhood is,” he said, adding unlocked doors make it “too easy” for thieves.
