HAMLET — Six men accused of a rash of car break-ins across the Sandhills have more charges heading their way.
Investigators with the Hamlet Police Department say Jalen Quick, Jakob Slade, Timonte Purvis, Bobby Pearson Jr., Devine Revels and Majuani Jackson are responsible for breaking into two vehicles in the Woodstone neighborhood on Feb. 9.
According to warrants, they stole $1 in change from a Nissan Altima and two 12-gauge shotguns from a Toyota Tacoma.
They are each charged with two felony counts of breaking or entering a motor vehicle, one felony count of larceny of a firearm, one count of felony conspiracy, and one count of misdemeanor larceny.
HPD charged Purvis last week with larceny of a motor vehicle for allegedly stealing a Honda Ridgeline from Terry Street on Feb. 10. Investigators say the vehicle was recovered by the Laurinburg Police Department following a chase — with someone else driving it.
Purvis was arrested Feb. 25 by agents with the N.C. State Bureau of Investigation, deputies with the Robeson County Sheriff’s Office and officers with the Pembroke Police Department, according to a Facebook post from the Scotland County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigative Unit.
Investigators say Purvis, 21, of Bennettsville, South Carolina, was taken to Fayetteville and served with multiple warrants.
Prior to his arrest, Purvis was out on bond from pending charges from the Bennettsville Police Department and has warrants from the Marlboro County Sheriff’s Office for second-degree burglary and failure to stop for blue lights.
Jail records show Purvis is being held on 114 pending charges just from Cumberland County.
Investigators arrested three of the suspects — Pearson, Revels and Jackson — in Laurinburg on Feb. 20. The youngest of the group, 17-year-old Jakob Slade, was arrested the following day.
Quick, of Gibson, is still at large.
All defendants facing criminal charges are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
