ROCKINGHAM – Around 4:15 p.m. on Monday afternoon, residents on Dockery Road did not know what was about to happen.
They were hearing sounds that they knew were not normal.
Those that described the action that occurred had one thing on their minds: find a safe place to be.
The report was that all were able to find shelter and no injuries had been reported around 8:00 p.m.
No one could actually say what caused all the destruction but were relieved that most of the damage was to trees and not any structures.
Dockery Road was blocked from Harrington Road and Cartledge Creek Road.
Limbs were lying on both sides of the road and numerous trees were snapped, twisted and even uprooted throughout the area woods.
One person stated that a flag pole constructed of two inch pipe was snapped in two at his home.
Limbs were also found on Dave King Road which runs parallel to Dockery Road off of Cartledge Creek Road.
Amazingly, there was not any extensive damage to any of the many homes located in the wooded area where the storm passed.
