ROCKINGHAM – Emergency responders were dispatched to a two-vehicle collision on Sunday at 12:23 p.m. close to where Midway Road and Highway 74 West intersect.
On arrival, responders found one vehicle located in the median and the other on the shoulder of the highway in the east-bound lane.
Preacher Dennis Smith, who witnessed the accident, stated, “one of his members had just locked the gate to the church parking lot and entered Highway 74.
“After traveling a few hundred feet, the black Chevrolet S-10 pickup truck was struck in the rear by the black Camaro”.
Both drivers were transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries, one by FirstHealth Richmond EMS and the other by Cordova Fire Rescue.
Units responding to the call were Cordova Fire Rescue, FirstHealth Richmond EMS, Richmond County Rescue Squad and the North Carolina Highway Patrol.
At the time of publication, the accident was still being investigated by the Highway Patrol.
