EAST ROCKINGHAM – The East Rockingham Fire Department was dispatched at 3:15 p.m. Thursday afternoon to a single-vehicle accident on Hatcher Road, midway between Airport Road and Battley Dairy Road.
Upon arrival, it was determined by fire department personnel that only their was only one person in the white sedan, which was the driver of the vehicle. According to the driver, an animal crossed in front of him, and upon swerving to miss it, collided with the tree.
The was transported to a local hospital by ambulance complaining of chest pains. There were no further updates of the driver’s condition at the time of this publication.
Joining East Rockingham Fire Department on scene were FirstHealth Richmond EMS and North Carolina Highway Patrol. The accident is still currently being investigated by the N.C. Highway Patrol.
