Accident Report: Two-Vehicle Collision at Highways 74 and 177 in Hamlet Sends Three to Hospital

Hamlet emergency crews respond to a two-vehicle accident at Highways 74 and 177 that sent three people to the hospital.

HAMLET – First responders were busy in Hamlet Thursday night, as emergency crews with Hamlet Fire Rescue were dispatched at 8:10 p.m. to the intersection of Highway 74 and Highway 177 near the Hardees restaurant.

The reported accident involved a red Jeep SUV and a white Pontiac sedan.

One occupant in the Pontiac was stretchered to an ambulance on site, while the others were able to walk. Three people in total were sent to a local hospital with undetermined injuries.

Due to the drivers being transported to the hospital, Hamlet Police Department officers were waiting to talk to all involved before making charges.

Assisting HRS and HPD were the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office and FirstHealth Richmond EMS.

The accident is still being investigated by HPD at the time of this publication. As details emerge, the RO will report on them.
