ROCKINGHAM – Downtown Rockingham’s sidewalks were full Thursday, as community members filled the area for Affair on the Square.
Deemed as a local social sidewalk sale that happens bi-annually, Affair on the Square occurs once in the spring and once in the fall. This time, the event had over 25 artists, exhibitors, artisans, and other vendors out promoting their businesses and art.
Dinner specials, gift certificate raffles, and activities were planned for all who came out to the event. Hudson Brothers’ Deli, Henry’s Café and Pattan’s Downtown Grille offered dinner specials and regular menu items.
But then came the rain.
One may think the rain would have ruined the event; however, many vendors and businesses didn’t let it get them down. In fact, even the band Dark Horse was out singing in the rain; or at least in Arts Richmond while it was raining outside.
Participating in the event were several local businesses, some of which included: Simply Chic Monogram Boutique, Willow Tree Antiques and Gifts and Kool Kakes Bakery and Café. There were also some vendors outside, including: The Hutch Pickle Company, Wooden Puzzles by Greg, Twisted Treats, Mary Kay Cosmetics with Megan Tomestic, and Pee Dee Region Paranormal Group.
Arts Richmond opened up their showroom to Habitat ReStore, as well as for folks to come in and view local art.
Even through the issues with weather, many citizens came out and supported local businesses and had a great time.
